Stoicare for Wellbeing
Emotions, resilience, purpose, and social roles
Since our founding in 2021, we’ve been promoting two aspects of Stoicism as a caring philosophy: care for others and care for self. In order to simplify our mission and make our position clearer, we’re merging these two strands into one powerful concept—Stoic wellbeing. Here’s our definition of Stoic wellbeing, based on the ancient Greek concept of eudaimonia and presented in the terminology of contemporary psychology:
Stoic wellbeing is healthy, flourishing psychophysical state of contentment with your life and the world.
Our focus is on four important components of Stoic wellbeing:
Healthy management of stress and emotions
Resilience in the face of challenges and difficulties
Finding purpose and fulfillment in your life
Thriving in personal and professional roles
And we promote effective practices for incorporating Stoic wellbeing into our lives:
Learning about Stoic ideas through reading, listening, or watching
Reflecting and meditating on Stoic ideas
Journaling about how to incorporate Stoic ideas into your life
Talking with friends and mentors about Stoic wellbeing
Practicing Stoic ideas in your everyday life
Embodying Stoic principles for physical wellbeing
Through newsletters, videos, and online events we aim to provide more information and practical tips on these practices. And we’ve also developed a directory of Stoic wellbeing professionals. Many people out there claim to provide Stoic services like counseling or coaching, but it can be difficult to know who to trust. Our directory includes trusted pros around the world who provide mentoring, coaching, consulting, and other helpful services. If you’re looking for Stoic support, check out our list!
